HLDPR Executive VP Julie Gross Gelfand to Address Public School Communicators on E-Communications
10.16.2008 - "Changing dynamics in marketing are altering the way professional organizations communicate with their stakeholders," says Harrison Leifer DiMarco Public Relations Executive Vice President and Director of Public Relations, Julie Gross Gelfand. "New digital platforms are increasingly visible in connecting with designated audiences, and Web sites alone are not enough to communicate effectively with those you need to reach."
Julie will be taking that message to public school communicators on Long Island as she presents Reaching the Public Through eCommunications at the Long Island Schools Public Relations Association’s (LISPRA) October 22nd meeting at Western Suffolk BOCES Dix Hills campus. “There was a time when traditional newsletters were adequate in getting the news out, but there are many more highly effective online and integrated marketing tools that school districts can be using to build stronger community support and engage with parents and taxpayers,” explains Gelfand, who will discuss the power of email, blogs, social networking sites and other online tools as vital components in the overall school communications strategy.
Social media marketing is the fastest growing communications channel in the business world and has tremendous potential value in school communications as well. Tapping into the emerging influence of user-generated communities such as blogs, online chats and social networking sites can be very effective in engaging with the school community, or gaining support for bond referenda and annual school budget votes.
