Hard Sell for Software System
SoftwareToGo®
New Technology Launch

Protocall Technologies Inc. was preparing to launch the first pilot test of its proprietary SoftwareToGo® technology, the first electronic software delivery system designed for the retail selling floor. HLDPR’s challenge was to excite the interest of software publishers in listing their titles in the system, drive retailer interest in testing SoftwareToGo® on the selling floor, and prompt customers to seek out the system at area retailers.

We seized every new element of progress during the pilot test as an opportunity to promote new awareness and enthusiasm. To increase the mileage from press releases, we interviewed senior management from leading software retailers and publishers, obtaining quotes and endorsements that could be utilized in a variety of applications. Simultaneously, we reached down the distribution chain to retail store managers to enlist their cooperation in on-site product demonstrations for local media. We searched in-depth for print and Web media where we could showcase the SoftwareToGo technology in feature articles and technical papers. We supported the sales effort with a vendor newsletter and market white paper.

The results of our 12-month campaign exceeded every expectation. “HLDPR helped us prove the viability of SoftwareToGo with two national retail companies and pave the way for the second phase of beta testing,” said Protocall’s President & CEO.

Not only did we blanket the business, trade and consumer press with publicity stories about SoftwareToGo, our efforts helped secure distribution agreements with two new national retailers and double the number of software publishers utilizing the system as a distribution channel. The icing on the cake was our nomination of Protocall for an Innovator of the Year Award, which the company won.
